About the Designer

Aisyastar is the latest creation from designer Aisyah Huskisson.

Originally from Jakarta, Aisyah lives and works in Bali, Indonesia. After studying fashion, Aisyah designed for her family’s label in Jakarta, then moved to Bali where she became the head designer for a French label, before enjoying great success with her own fairly traded label ‘Alchem1st’.

Aisyastar heralds a move away from the garment industry for Aisyah, as even though she was producing in fairly traded workshops and using sustainable fabrics like ahimsa silk, organic cotton, merino wool and bamboo, she felt somewhat disillusioned with the factory production. For Aisyah making jewellery has always been a passion since she was a child, she wanted to rekindle that feeling and connection to her work, so decided to create a hand made jewellery line. 

All the pieces Aisyah creates are one of a kind designs; hand crafted jewellery amalgamating crystals, precious stones, silver and macramé. Aisyah has a passion for alternative medicines and natural healing techniques. Both the crystals and precious stones Aisyah selects, whilst travelling in Asia and Europe, have natural healing qualities. Each piece produced by Aisyastar is accompanied by a note detailing the properties and healing powers of the stones.
